Why earning HK$150K/month still doesn’t feel secure

It’s been a while since I last wrote here.

Over the past few months, I’ve been rethinking how I approach my work — and more importantly, what people actually need when it comes to money. I used to focus a lot on “retirement planning”. But I realised most people aren’t struggling with retirement.

They’re struggling with clarity today. Here’s something I’ve been noticing a lot lately.

“I think I’m doing okay.”

That’s what most people tell me.

You’re earning HK$100K–150K/month. You save a bit. You’ve tried investing (some wins, some losses). You compare time deposit rates like it actually matters.

And yet… You’ve probably thought:

  • “I should invest more… but I’m not sure how”

  • “I missed the best timing already”

  • “Let me wait for it to go higher before I sell”

  • “This time I won’t make the same mistake”

Then the market drops. And you’re back to square one. So you go back to:

  • time deposits

  • leaving money idle

  • waiting for the “right time” again

Let’s be honest. This isn’t a money problem. It’s not even an investment problem. It’s a clarity problem.

Because right now:

  • You don’t know what you’re investing for

  • You don’t know when enough is enough

  • You don’t know how today’s decisions connect to your life

So every decision feels like: guessing, reacting , hoping.

And that’s why even high income doesn’t feel secure. You can earn HK$150K/month and still feel like you’re not really moving forward. Not because you’re doing it wrong. But because everything you’re doing is happening without a clear structure behind it.

Most people try to maximize returns. But they never ask: “What is this money actually for?” “At what point is it enough?”

So they keep chasing: better returns, better timing, better opportunities. And end up with: more stress, more second-guessing, no real direction.

Real financial security doesn’t come from maximizing. It comes from knowing:

  • what matters

  • what you’re building toward

  • and how your money supports that

This is what I’ve been focusing on more recently — helping people step back, connect everything, and build a structure that actually makes sense for their life.

I’ve started opening a small number of Life Value & Wealth Optimization Sessions each month. If this felt uncomfortably familiar, you can book a 30mins trial consultation here.
